Taboola’s publisher partners maintain full editorial control over the content that is recommended on their sites.
Although our quality assurance team manually reviews and classifies all content added to the Taboola marketplace, we also understand that additional filters may be needed based on evolving business needs and editorial guidelines.
Blocking Keywords and Domains
To block certain words or phrases from appearing in content headlines, or to block ads from a certain domain, follow these steps:
- Log into Backstage
- Click on the “Block Sponsored Content” tab in the left-hand menu (under “Editorial Tools”)
- Press the " + Block Content" button
- Choose either “Text in Title” or “URL”
- Enter the keyword or URL and select the “Reason for Blocking”
- Click “Block” at the bottom of the menu
Blocking Specific Content Items
When logged into Backstage, you can block specific content items simply by hovering over the recommendation on your site and clicking the red “thumbs down” button that appears on the top-left corner of every recommendation.
Alternately, to block a specific item from appearing on your site, you can follow the directions above and enter the full headline or URL at Step 4.
Please note that Backstage will retain all blocked items, keywords, and URLs in the “Block Sponsored Content” tab. If you later decide to reinstate an item into circulation, you can easily do so here.
